LOCATION
Rifle is located centrally in the heart of western Colorado, within an hour's drive of Grand Junction, Aspen, and Vail.
CLIMATE
Nestled at the base of the mountains, 5,280 feet above sea level, Rifle is considered high desert.
POPULATION
Current population is approximately 7,349.
EDUCATION
Rifle is in the RE-2 School District of Garfield County. It encompasses approximately 822 square miles of the county and services 15,750 residents living in Rifle, Silt and New Castle.
Colorado Mountain College - Rifle Branch: the Cisco program and Vo-tech program are among the many degree programs offered.
CHURCHES
There are a wide variety of denominations in the valley with 16 churches.
LIBRARY
The Garfield County Library system has a Rifle Branch. Located on Railroad Avenue with convenient hours.
TRANSPORTATION
Conveniently located on I-70, with major airports in Grand Junction, Aspen, Eagle/Vail and Denver.
RECREATION
Rifle offers 75 acres of parks including
three soccer, 4 softball, 1 baseball field, and tennis courts. The Garfield County Fairgrounds services equestrian activities, concerts and fairs. On the Colorado River, there is fly-fishing; whitewater rafting or Rifle Gap State Park has boating, water skiing, swimming and camping. Golf at Rifle Creek or visit nearby Lakota, Iron Ridge, River Valley Ranch and Aspen Glen courses, all professionally designed. Vail & Aspen are among the six major ski areas within a 90-mile radius with all levels of skiing. The White River National Forest has 1.9 million acres including 200,000 acres of Flat Tops Wilderness to enjoy skiing, four wheeling, hunting, mountain biking, snowmobiling and horse back riding.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Rifle offers the Grand River Hospital with 24-hour emergency rooms, air life access, ambulatory and in-patient service, specialists, inpatient and outpatient surgery, radiology and rehabilitation center.
